Ed Burg is the CEO and President of Data Research Group. Ed brings over 20 years of Information Technology experience with him. His strength lies in communication and leading software development efforts and initiatives. Ed has been working with relational databases since 1985. He brings a wealth of experience designing, testing and building relational data models across a large number of organizations. He has expended tremendous efforts in successfully leading application development teams in a wide range of platforms including Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Oracle, VB, VB.NET, ASP, ASP.NET, and Cold Fusion, as well as many other development environments to customers in the government, commercial, healthcare, education and non-profit organizations.
He served as a top rated instructor for Learning Tree International between 1997 and 2004 teaching 7 different courses and logging well over 5000 hours in the classroom. He is extremely well versed in current technologies and can adapt to new ones quickly. Though he has an extensive history in Information Technology, he was formally trained as a Microbiologist earning a Masters Degree in Molecular Biology from Idaho State University in 1993.
He served as an officer in the United States Navy as a Research Microbiologist from September 1994 to December 1998. While at Bethesda, MD at the National Naval Medical Center, he contributed successfully to a number of vaccine development efforts across a broad range of Microbiology. He successfully adapted and applied a new molecular based typing system for aiding in the process of bacterial strain identification. He earned a patent through the development of a Molecular product for treating Campylobacter infections. In 1997, he spent 4 months in Saudi Arabia as the lead officer in the area of interest for rapid diagnosis of Biological Warfare Agents. During his stay, he earned several achievement medals and contributed significantly to the computer network of the on base hospital at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
Since 1998 he has served as President and CEO of Assisted Solutions, Inc. (ASI), a small Information Technology company in Northern Virginia. ASI’s perfect record of application deployment is a testament to the commitment to his customers. Assisted Solutions currently serves as a sister company to Data Research Group providing web and mail hosting, customized database hosting and specialty products and controls.
